Use the number of floss strands shown below for the red (x), blue (heart), and gold (z) stars and the blue backstitching. 

Approximate finished sizes:
11-count fabric: 4" by 4" Use three strands of floss.
14-count fabric: 3" by 3"  Use two strands of floss.
18-count fabric: 2 ½" by 2 ½"  Use two strands of floss.
22-count fabric: 2" by 2"  Use one strand of floss.
