Nantucket Basket
Counted Cross Stitch Kit

In the 1800s, residents of Nantucket traveling abroad came into contact with rattan cane and brought back samples of rattan woven products. From this beginning, Nantucket artisans developed a distinctive basketweaving approach that has endured to today. For more than two decades, Anne Bell Robb has been painting the American scene, giving us a fresh appreciation of the heritage which is ours. During that same time period, The Posy Collection has been interpreting our major historical sites and natural wonders in cross stitch. This kit is the result of a combination of their efforts aimed at "preserving our story in stitches." Nantucket Basket, one of Robb's most striking still life paintings, depicts a jaunty collection of hydrangea peeping out of a basket typical of the famous Nantucket design.

Finished size: 8" by 9" on 14 count Charles Craft fabric. Kit includes Charles Craft material, DMC floss, needle, chart, instructions, and color photograph of finished project. Designed by Barbara Bangser for The Posy Collection. Needlework adapted with permission from artist, Anne Bell Robb.
