Mulberry
Row at Monticello
Counted Cross Stitch Kit
| This cross stitch design is a composite developed from a series of eight paintings of African-American life at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello by Nathaniel K. Gibbs. He depicted enslaved people living and working together on Mulberry Row on a Sunday, the only day of the week they could call their own. On that special day, they could follow their own pursuits -- as families rather than laborers, as mothers and fathers improving their children's circumstances, as boys and girls in play rather than at work; as a community. |
Finished size: 8½" by 7½" on 18 count Charles Craft fabric. Kit includes Charles Craft material, DMC floss, needle, chart, instructions, and color photograph of finished project.
