Projects for the Family

Welcome, Focus on the Family listeners!

In connection with my participation in the rebroadcast of the Focus on the Family program entitled, "Home Employment: Exploring the Options," I am offering several related items. Shirley Dobson and her book, "Let's Make a Memory," were the inspiration for most of these projects, and I want to express my thanks to her for this.

Our family celebrates our faith in many ways. As Kyser, now 23, grew from a baby, we developed craft items to help him learn the value of our faith. The first such item was the Wood Block Nativity Set so that our then two-year-old could have his very own nativity for role-playing. Other families asked for the patterns, and that's how our Posy Collection Projects for the Family began. We have added more items since then, and continue to feel blessed when other families enjoy using our ideas to build their own family traditions and celebrations.

During the program, I mentioned a counted cross stitch Bible tote a number of times. Kyser used his tote for his Bible, Sunday School literature, and church bulletin. It was really handy, and helped to make Sunday mornings much more manageable. If you would like a free copy of a counted cross stitch pattern you can use to make your own Bible tote, click here or on the photo at the right.

Here are five other projects our family has used to teach our spiritual heritage. If you are interested in ordering the patterns for any of them, just click here or on any photograph for the order form.

Wood Block Nativity Patterns. Includes patterns for 11 figures and detailed assembly instructions. Great for youngsters to use in role-playing. Makes an excellent baby gift. (Felt and 2x4 wood blocks not included.)
Wood Block Noah's Ark Patterns. Includes patterns for 20 figures and detailed assembly instructions. Wonderful for Sunday School or children's sermon use. (Felt and wood blocks not included.)
Advent Patterns. Includes both counted cross stitch charts and pen & ink drawings for 24 symbols, one for each day of Advent, as well as daily meditation cards.  (Frames, material, and floss not included.)
40 Days: Path to the Cross Patterns. Includes both counted cross stitch charts and pen & ink drawings for 40 small and 6 large symbols, as well as daily meditation cards and instructions for building cross. Add one small symbol to the cross each day between Lent and Easter, and use the meditation cards as the basis of your daily family devotions. (Frames, wood, material, and floss not included.)

Patriotic Cross Stitch Designs Chart Pack. Includes charts and instructions for 19 patriotic counted cross stitch projects. (Material, floss, and needle not included.)

I hope that you find some new ideas here to use with your own family.

Every blessing,
Posy Lough
