Drummer Boy
Counted Cross Stitch Kit

Drummers in the Civil War armies were mostly boys, some as young as twelve. One of the functions of the drummers and buglers was to sound the signals that instructed troops to change formations during battle. The deafening noise of dozens of cannons and thousands of rifles often made even the piercing notes of bugles and the loud rattle of drums almost inaudible, so that orders had to be carried by courier and shouted to units at close range.
This counted cross stitch kit is based on the Mort Künstler painting of a Confederate drummer boy.

Finished size: 3¾" by 8½" on 14 count Charles Craft fabric. Kit includes Charles Craft material, DMC floss, needle, chart, instructions, and color photograph of finished project.
